1. What is a slotted nut and its function
Slotted nuts are an indispensable fastener in the machinery industry, and their product categories include standard parts, non-standard parts, stainless steel parts, etc. When using them, you need to pay attention to choosing the appropriate specifications and types, and use the wrench correctly to tighten them to avoid loose connections or over-tightening.
The function of the slotted nut is to fix the front and rear axles of the vehicle by tightening through the front and rear wheel axle screws, so that the frame and tire are fixed together. In order to prevent the nut from loosening, it must be fixed with a cotter pin through the slot of the slotted nut. The cotter pin must pass through the middle of the axle screw to fix the slotted nut. Usually, holes need to be drilled at both ends of the axle screw. The diameter of the hole and the slot width and depth of the slotted nut determine the size of the cotter pin to be selected. When the selected axle screw and cotter pin are relatively matched, the nut fixes the front wheel and the frame through the axle screw, and the cotter pin fastens the slotted nut through the hole of the axle screw, so that the slotted nut does not loosen and the vehicle does not loosen when moving.
Slotted nuts are commonly used fasteners in the machinery industry. Their main function is to connect or fix two or more parts.
2. According to the different manufacturing and materials, slotted nuts can be divided into the following categories:
- Standard parts: manufactured in accordance with national and international standards, with uniform specifications, precise dimensions, strong versatility, etc., it is a common type in the market.
- Non-standard parts: refers to nuts manufactured according to the special requirements of users, which cannot be used with standard parts and have a relatively narrow range of use.
- Stainless steel parts: due to its characteristics of not being easy to rust and beautiful, it is often used in aviation, aerospace, chemical industry, biomedicine, precision instruments and other fields, and is also a common type in the market.
3. Application scope of slotted nuts
Slotted nuts can be used to connect various mechanical equipment and parts, such as automobiles, machine tools, robots, electronic equipment, etc. In general, the following points should be noted when using slotted nuts:
- Choose the appropriate nut type and specification to ensure a firm connection.
- During installation, use a wrench or wrench socket correctly according to the specifications to tighten, and do not use excessive or insufficient force.
- Do not mix slotted nuts with other types of nuts, otherwise the strength and stability of the connection will be reduced.
